Severe thunderstorms move through metro Atlanta

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Strong thunderstorms moved through metro Atlanta Tuesday evening.

Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for much of metro Atlanta due storms that produced large hail and damaging winds.

National Weather Service in Peachtree City confirms straight line winds between 60 and 70 MPH hit the McDonough area.

Officials said 7 trailers overturned at Briggs & Stratton warehouse in McDonough.

Lightning struck several homes and one apartment building in the McDonough area.

In Henry County one person was trapped in a semi and had to be extricated along Hwy 42 south at the Briggs & Stratton.

Various trees and power lines down in the area, according to police.
