Cobb County woman arrested in child deprivation case

COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

A Cobb County mother was arrested for allegedly allowing her three children to live in deplorable conditions.

Police charged Shannon Byers, 42, with three counts of contributing to the deprivation of a minor Friday.

According to reports, the home was infected by roaches and the bathrooms were in such disrepair that mold and raw sewage seeped on the floors.

Police said it was 97 degrees inside the home and the children were taken to a hospital by ambulance.
