DEKALB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
DeKalb County police are investigating after two men were shot and killed on Gresham Rd. and Clifton Church Rd. Southeast.
Alfred Smith, who works security for the Georgia World Congress Center, was in the area and tried to revive one of the men.
"I saw two guys on the driveway. I just stopped to help," Smith said.
Smith retired last year as an Atlanta Crime Scene Investigator. He found himself working the shooting in a way he had never done before.
"I never had anybody die in my arms. No, never did," Smith said.
Smith said the brazen shooters left, but one man returned appearing to take a look to make sure the job was done.
"He comes back without a gun walking just as casual. Walked by me to make sure both of them were dead," said Smith.
One of the men died on the scene and the other victim died at the hospital.
Police said no innocent bystanders were injured, even though people were in nearby Gresham Park when several shots were fired.
Police do not have a motive or suspect descriptions at this time.
