14 homes lost after Henry County blaze

STOCKBRIDGE, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Fourteen families are without homes after a fire destroyed the Flippen Woods subdivision in Henry County on Saturday.

The fire spread from house to house, fueled by the heat and the houses being so close to each other.

A total of 25 citizens were displaced by the devastation, of which 16 were adults and nine were children.

James Hudson was inside his home with his three young sons moments before stepping outside to see flames on the side of the house. He quickly got his sons out and called 911.

Of the 14 houses damaged, seven were nearly gutted and cannot be lived in. One person was treated for breathing problems but has been released.

"Thank God nobody didn't get killed. I mean ain't no body bags out here. So that's a plus," said Hudson.

Volunteers with the Red Cross Disaster Action Team are assisting seven families.

Henry County Fire investigators are currently investigating the blaze.
