ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
A dangerous heat wave will continue in metro Atlanta this weekend with record breaking temperatures across north Georgia.
Atlanta hit 104 degrees Friday afternoon which broke a single-day record previously set in 1936. It was also the first 100-degree day in Atlanta since August 22, 2007.
Increasing humidity throughout the weekend will lead to dangerous heat indices throughout all of north Georgia.
An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect from Athens-to-Eatonton southeastward where afternoon heat index values will hit 110 degrees.
A Heat Advisory is in effect for metro Atlanta where afternoon heat index will hit 105 degrees.
The all-time record high for Atlanta -- which is 105 degrees -- is also in jeopardy Saturday with a forecasted high of 106.
