ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Starting Friday at noon, The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta will provide water and distribute 500 free electric fans to those in need in Metro Atlanta, Gwinnett and Decatur communities.

Two cooling stations will also be set up at The Salvation Army locations in Gwinnett and Decatur from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

"Temperatures are expected to reach triple digits this afternoon. Our seniors and especially those that don't have shelter are at extreme risk," says Metro Area Commander Major Todd Hawks. "We are also deploying several of our canteens to go into the community to provide water and are opening our doors to those that want a cool place to come in from out of the sun and enjoy a cold glass of water."

Here's a list of The Salvation Army locations to get relief from the heat:

  • Ray and Joan Kroc Center Community Center (Mobile Canteen, Fans, Ice-cream) - 967 Dewey St. SW, Atlanta, GA 30310
