DEKALB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA/AP) -
DeKalb County police said an officer responding to a domestic call shot and killed a man who threatened him with a gun.
Two officers responded to the call at a townhome on Skyland Drive Northeast at about 10:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Police said the officers were talking to the woman downstairs when her boyfriend came down with a gun, threatening to kill himself. The woman was taken out of the home by one of the officers. Police said the boyfriend started pointing the gun at the other officer inside.
One of the officers fired two or three shots at the boyfriend, according to police. He was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds to the chest. He is in critical condition.
No officers were injured.
The officer involved in the incident was placed under administrative leave.
