A rally to stop youth violence is planned at the state capitol building on Friday. The event is supposed to also be a conversation to come up with solutions to the problem. It starts at noon.
Malik Archible is helping organize the event. His son was murdered on May 24.
"Right now, I am on a crusade to save young men's lives," Archible said. "As far as being angry, I am angry at society."
His son Isiah, 19, went to buy a car in College Park around 1 p.m. Archible said his son never got that car. Isiah was robbed and then shot in the head. Police said the car Isiah and another man were in then hit a telephone pole. Archible said a 23-year-old was charged with his son's murder.
"It was devastating to my family. You don't expect that to happen to a kid like Isiah. The most loving person you could meet," Archible said.
He wants to keep son's name and memory alive.
"I am not going to rest. I am not going to be content until the murder rate of young kids cease," Archible said.
Archible wants to make sure another young person does not have their dreams taken away, and another family is spared the heartache of losing a child to violence.
"My son Isiah, my whole thing is, I don't want his death to be in vain, so I am going to be his voice to make sure something is done," said Archible.
