ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Federal agents have spent 14 months running a fake storefront, with undercover agents offering to buy stolen guns and drugs.
Sixty people have been charged after being involved in transactions at that storefront and 40 have already been apprehended.
Scott Sweetow, an Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms special agent, said 270 weapons were taken off of the streets of Atlanta because of the storefront.
"We essentially set up what looked like a legitimate business and offered to buy illegal contraband," Sweetow said. "The criminals came running."
Sweetow said most of the people who were arrested had dangerous criminal pasts.
"If you look at the criminal histories of the people that walk in here, these are not nice guys," Sweetow said.
