DECATUR, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
The first annual Diabetes Awareness Bike Ride was held in Decatur on Sunday.
Commissioner Larry Johnson helped organize the effort to educate people about the disease. Diabetes is the seventh leading cause of death in the U.S. and the fourth leading cause of death by disease among African Americans.
The ride was eight miles. It was also billed as another event in support of First Lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move!" initiative to improve the health of children.
