DEKALB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Up, up, and away!
Students attending the Fernbank Science Center's annual Lockheed Martin Aviation camp received a hot-air balloon ride Friday morning.
The camp teaches participants about aviation. Students will also build a model airplane and then test it to see if it flies.
A second camp session begins next week. In all, 360 students will participate.
The Fernbank Science Center is operated by DeKalb County Schools. The school board Thursday night voted to keep the facility open, but was forced to cut Fernbank's budget from $4.7 million to $1.9 million.
