Candidate voices concern in Cherokee County after signs damaged

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

A candidate for sheriff in Cherokee County raised concerns after campaign signs were stolen and damaged.

Two arrows were shot through the "W" of David Water's campaign sign in Canton.

"I thought it was just politics, but when they started damaging our signs and then obviously it's an aggressive move. It's more aggressive than just stealing," said Waters.

Incumbent Sheriff Roger Garrison has been in office nearly 20 years. About 100 of his signs have been stolen and he said others have had baseball bats taken to them. He believes it's all part of running a campaign.

"With every election cycle we have damage, we have thefts, there's been some weekends we'll lose as many as 25 or 30 yard signs," said Garrison.
