SEMINOLE COUNTY, FL (CNN) -

The 911 calls from Trayvon Martin's father the day after the teen was shot and killed in Sanford, Florida, were released Wednesday by police.

Tracy Martin told the dispatcher he hadn't seen his son since the night before and asked if he should file a missing persons report.

He gave his son's name and age and described what he was wearing.

By the time the call was made, Trayvon Martin's body had already been recovered from the scene of the shooting.

But teen was not carrying any ID and had not yet been identified.

Neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman has been charged with second degree murder in Trayvon Martin's death.

Zimmerman told police he shot the teen in self defense.

The city of Sanford fired its police Chief Bill Lee on Wednesday.

The Martin family's attorney said the slain teen's parents respected the decision of the city manager.
