Train kills man walking on tracks in Conyers

CONYERS, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

A man died after being struck by a train in Conyers late Wednesday night.

Conyers police identified the man as Bryant Bennett Johnson, 54.

Police said Johnson was walking east on the train tracks in the area of Ellington Drive around 9 p.m. when a CSX train, also traveling east, struck and killed him on impact.

The train sounded its horn when Johnson was spotted, according to police, but was unable to brake in time to avoid impact.

Conyers police identified Johnson with a RAPID-ID fingerprinting identification device, but cannot locate his family.
