Atlanta police officer charged with DUI, reckless driving

DEKALB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

DeKalb County police arrested an Atlanta police officer for drunk driving and reckless driving at 128 mph.

Police reports said Jarvis Farley was going 128 mph in a 55 mph zone on I-285, near Lavista Road on May 25.

An officer pulled Farley over in a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro just before 3 a.m., according to reports.

The officer who pulled Farley over said he had bloodshot, glassy eyes and a strong smell of alcohol on his breath.

Farley told the officer he drank a "few" beers that night and had been drinking during the day.

During a sobriety test Farley stumbled and failed to maintain a straight line, according to reports.

During a search officers found an unopened bottle of Tequila in Farley's cargo shorts pocket.

Farley was taken to jail and his alcohol breath test showed a .142 blood alcohol content.

According to reports, Farley was charged with DUI, speeding and reckless driving.
