ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

The Georgia State Patrol has charged the driver of a pickup truck after 11 people were taken to the hospital following a crash along the Downtown Connector.

The driver, Jack Roger Rozsos, 40, was cited for having five children under the age of 18 riding unrestrained in the bed of the truck.

Around 10:25 a.m. Rozsos was headed northbound on the Connector at Spring Street when the vehicle crossed the gore and struck a guardrail at the Spring Street Exit, according to police.

Eight people were riding in the bed of the pickup truck and were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment, according to reports. The injured were ages 5, 6, 7, 14, 17, 18, 19 and 20.

In addition to Rozsos, there were four passengers riding in the cab who were not injured. They were ages 1, 2, 24 and 31 years old.

The people in the truck were on their way to the Georgia Aquarium from Plant City, FL.
