East Point councilman arrested in fight with locksmith

EAST POINT, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

CBS Atlanta News has new details in the arrest of East Point Councilman Alexander Gothard.

Gothard was arrested June 8 for beating up a locksmith.

According to the report, Gothard and the locksmith got into a fight when Gothard wanted to pay with a check.

The locksmith said he didn't accept checks.

When officers arrived, the locksmith's shirt was ripped and he had scratch marks on his neck.

Gothard faces a charge of battery.
