ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Crews on the scene of a massive water main break in northwest Atlanta said they expected the main to be repaired and water service restored by mid-afternoon Thursday.
It could take several more days until the road is fixed.
A 20-inch pipe burst late Wednesday at Delmar Lane and Delmoor Drive in the Adamsville community. It sent a river of mud gushing across the road and yards. Crews said several homes, as well as a townhome complex, lost water service.
Craig Vanterpool was one of the people who lost water, but he was more worried about a loss of transportation.
"By the time I got here (home), it was off, so I just went to my mother's house, came back over this morning, and now I have to go find a bus stop."
The break and torn-up road stopped some buses, like Vanterpool's Marta ride, from passing through Thursday morning.
Crews have not determined a cause for the break.
