Holy Comforter Episcopal Church
Father Tanner
Fence blocking the window
ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Atlanta police said burglars were after electronics when they broke into Holy Comforter Episcopal Church on Monday afternoon.
A neighbor walking his dog near the church on Woodland Avenue told police he saw a piece of wooden fence propped against a window to the church where the thieves broke in.
Father Mike Tanner, a priest at the church, said the building has been broken into about once a year for the last five years.
Monday's break-in was the second time thieves came through a window to get into the church.
"They probably used the book bag to help carry put some of the stolen items. But all of the windows are secure now," Tanner said.
The thieves were able to get away with two laptops, a projector, a small speaker system, two digital cameras and a book bag.
Anyone with information is urged to call Atlanta Police or Crime Stoppers Atlanta at (404) 577-TIPS.
