COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
The Georgia Arson Control Program awarded $3,500 to a tipster who gave investigators information that lead to the arrest in a Marietta mosque fire in 2010.
Marietta Fire officials said this tipster witnessed the July 5, 2010, fire at 968 Powder Springs St.
A mosque member later confessed to the arson, according to police.
Tamsir Mendy was charged with first-degree arson and is being held for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Fire officials said physical evidence and interviews with congregants pointed straight to Mendy.
The tipster's name was not released.
