Right: Larry Flaxman
ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
An alleged purse snatcher was nabbed by a Good Samaritan who just happens to work in law enforcement.
Atlanta police said Orico McCaskill took a woman's purse in the lobby of the downtown Hyatt on Sunday.
But his plot was foiled when Larry Flaxman of Arkansas heard the woman's screams and chased McCaskill, pinning him down until police arrived.
"The adrenaline was going. I was really just more concerned with trying to stop the man and trying to retrieve the purse if possible," Flaxman said.
Flaxman has worked in law enforcement for 17 years. He's also involved in paranormal research.
Officers said they recovered the woman's handbag from the suspect's waistband.
The story then took another turn - the suspect managed to slip his cuffed hands under his legs and bolted from the police car.
He was quickly captured and taken into custody.
Flaxman and the victim were attending a spiritual conference, Through the Veil, at the time of the incident.
