DALLAS, GA (AP) -
Authorities say two young girls have drowned in a backyard swimming pool northwest of Atlanta.
Police say the two 5-year-olds drowned Sunday afternoon in a backyard swimming pool in Paulding County.
Dallas police Sgt. Bill Gorman tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the deaths occurred between 2 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. at a home on Mirage Lane in the Vista Lake subdivision.
Gorman said one of the girls lived at the residence, and the other was the granddaughter of the family's live-in housekeeper.
Police say other family members had gone grocery shopping, and returned home looking for their daughter. Police say the 10-year-old brother of one of the girls found both of them at the bottom of the pool.
Gorman identified the girls as Sophia Juarez and Mia Penoyer.
