SNELLVILLE, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Snellville Tourism and Trade Association dedicated the Sizzlin' Snellville Summer Weekend to Aimee Copeland.
Copeland is a Georgia student who lost her left leg, right foot and hands to flesh-eating disease.
Copeland also graduated from Snellville Middle School and South Gwinnett High School.
City leaders and citizens have banded together to involve the whole community in this fundraising effort to aid the Copeland Family with their expenses.
A number of local and national celebrities have expressed a desire to help with this event, and some people paid $500 to sit at tables in front of the stage, with much of that money helping to pay for Aimee Copeland's vast medical expenses.
"We've been truly blessed through this event in a way that I don't know we'll ever truly understand," said Aimee's father, Andy Copeland.
He said there have been so many benefits held for his daughter that he hasn't been able to keep track of them all.
"I hope that people can take story of inspiration that Aimee has, and learn something from it," Andy Copeland said. "With faith, love, hope, you can accomplish anything that this world has to throw your way."
