An Atlanta Public High School student, who defied the odds, is receiving help conquering his next goal.
Fred Dukes graduated from Booker T. Washington High School with a 3.0 GPA even though he was homeless.
Dukes will attend Coker College in South Carolina to study business this fall. He did receive a college scholarship, but it does not cover everything.
On Sunday, WAOK radio talk show host Derrick Boazman went to three churches to help raise money for Dukes.
Mount Nebo Baptist Church, First Iconium Baptist Church and Providence Missionary Baptist Church also gave money to help Dukes.
Dukes said of the effort, "I didn't expect for this to happen. I just can't thank you enough."
