Marietta police officer injured in motorcycle accident

COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

A Cobb County police officer was injured in a motorcycle accident Friday morning.

Officer Michael Randall, a 6-year veteran of the Marietta Police Department, was off-duty and riding his personal motorcycle when the crash occurred.

Police said the driver of a 1995 Volvo was traveling eastbound on Dallas Highway when she turned left onto Garrison Commons Drive directly in front of Randall who was traveling west.

Randall was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries.

He is listed in critical, but stable condition.

The driver of the Volvo was charged with failure to yield the right of way.

The Marietta Police Department would like to ask the public to keep Officer Randall and his family in their thoughts and prayers.
