COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Officials have identified a man killed riding his motorcycle on Veterans Memorial Highway at Powell Drive in Mableton.
According to investigators, Vernon Patterson was driving his 1979 Harley Davidson in the left lane as a Amanda Garrett, 40, was also traveling east on Veterans Memorial Highway in the right lane.
Police said as Garrett pulled up to the cross street of Powell Drive, she made a U-turn into the path of the Harley Davidson.
Patterson collided with the left front of Garrett's car. Patterson was ejected onto the northern edge of the roadway, according to the incident report.
Patterson was taken to Wellstar Cobb Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Garrett was charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and failure to yield from a stop sign.
