DECATUR, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
An Atlanta high school graduate who defied the odds was treated to shopping spree Wednesday.
CBS Atlanta first introduced Fred Dukes in May. At one point he was homeless, but still managed to graduate from Booker T. Washington High School with honors.
D&K Suit City in Decatur heard about his story from former Atlanta City Councilman Derrick Boazman and decided to help out. Dukes was treated to a $3,000 shopping spree at the store.
"I can't say thank you enough for all the recognition and everyone that's helping me out. I appreciate it. It's unbelievable," Dukes said.
D&K has also set up a fund for Dukes. For every dollar donated at the store, they'll match it up to $5,000. Next year, Dukes will attend Coker College in South Carolina. He plans to major in business.
