DEKALB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
A DeKalb County neighborhood remained on heightened alert Thursday morning following what appeared to be an attempted kidnapping.
Police said a man approached a girl, 5, walking by herself Tuesday around 4 p.m. at Fenway Circle and Oldfield Road. That's in the Midway Woods neighborhood.
"He asked her a number of personal questions and then asked if she wanted to see something inside of his truck," said Mekka Parish, a spokesperson for the DeKalb County Police Department.
The girl refused, ran home, and alerted her dad, who called police.
Police issued a suspicious person alert and increased patrols. They also asked for the public's help.
"We're trying to figure out if there was anyone in the vicinity who saw this individual driving through the community last night or any other information in general," said Parish.
The girl described the man as white, driving a black pickup. The truck bed was cluttered.
