Mark Melvin/CBS Atlanta- A Marietta store front was boarded up Wednesday after a truck crashed into it.
MARIETTA, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
A man was suffering from an apparent medical emergency when he crashed into a vacant building in Marietta Tuesday night.
Marietta Police Officer Michael Gardner said investigators believe the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado was stopped at the intersection of Powers Ferry Road at Roswell Road at 9:42 p.m. when it suddenly began rolling through a red light, over a curb and into a vacant building at 1323 Roswell Rd.
Police identified the man inside as 68-year-old James Franklin Griffin of Cartersville.
Gardner said the truck broke through the wall and front windows before coming to a rest all the way inside the building.
Emergency responders on the scene treated Griffin, who was in cardiac arrest, and took him to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The building was heavily damaged but unoccupied at the time, and there were no other injuries.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Gardner at 770-794-5266.
