ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Atlanta police will likely canvas the East Atlanta neighborhoods around Moreland Avenue again Friday. They want people to see if they recognize a sketch of the man believed to have attacked two women this week.
Police Friday will also continue reviewing security camera video to see if cameras captured the man on tape.
In the first incident, the man snatched a young woman off of a front porch on Mayson Avenue. The woman's friend, Becca, witnessed the entire ordeal.
"He cut across the lawn and walked right up here (onto the porch). I thought he was going to rob us," said Becca.
Becca said their purses and cell phones were in plain view, but the man was not interested in taking them.
"He appeared to have a gun in the front pocket of the baggy hoodie that he was wearing. He just grabbed her," said Becca.
The man walked her to a car that was parked about a block away.
"He made her get into the trunk of his car and then took off," said Becca.
While the man drove around for several minutes, Becca's friend tore and pulled apart everything she could inside the trunk until she got her hands on the latch.
"She squeezed the latch, got the trunk open and she jumped out of the car as it was speeding down the street. She jumped and rolled and then ran like hell," said Becca.
Becca's friend jumped out of the car near Leslie and Whiteford streets. She ran to a stranger's house and called the police. The man got away.
About 30 minutes later and less than a mile away, police said the man struck again. He attacked a woman walking on Hawthorne. Her screams brought a neighbor outside and sent the man running.
Both victims suffered minor cuts and bruises.
They said the man drove a dark-colored Sedan, wore short dreads, and was in his early 20s with a slight build.
