GWINNETT COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
A Lawrenceville mother's family said she is in jeopardy of being deported to Honduras after being pulled over for allegedly rolling a stop sign.
Her husband is asking for public support in fighting for his wife's freedom and right to stay in this country to raise her children.
Steven Serbin is pleading and hoping his wife, Keylin Ayala, won't be deported to Honduras.
The Lawrenceville mother of a 2-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl could very well be deported next month.
Serbin said while his wife is illegally in this country, she has been so for 12 years.
And that she has never been in trouble with the law and that up until their wedding last fall, raised her two small children pretty much on her own.
"The kids cry every day. The little girl is not eating. It's hard, every time their mother talks to them on the phone, the daughter says, ‘Mom come back. Mom come back.' It's hard," Serbin said.
CBS Atlanta was unable to reach anyone with the immigration office on Saturday.
But in the recent past we have been told fewer people are being held for long periods of time for minor traffic violations.
