Jonathan P. Walsh
COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
The body of First Lt. Jonathan P. Walsh, 28, a soldier from Cobb County who died in Afghanistan, returns home Wednesday.
Walsh died April 22 in Paktia, Afghanistan.
He died when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.
He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 504th Infantry, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, NC.
Walsh graduated from Kennesaw State University and worked in the financial services industry before joining the Army in March 2010.
He was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division in August 2011.
An honor escort of police officers and motorcycles will accompany his remains, leaving Dobbins ARB at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
The route will continue down Cobb Parkway to Blue Springs Road.
The procession will turn on McCollum Parkway to go by Kennesaw State University.
Lt. Walsh was the first Kennesaw State University graduate to be killed in the line of military duty.
