Hundreds gather for job fair
COLLEGE PARK, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
A huge job fair continues Tuesday and Wednesday as officials at Atlanta's airport look to hire 700 new workers for a major expansion.
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport plans to open its new international terminal next month. Because of that, 700 new employees will be needed over the next two years, according to airport officials. Most of the jobs are in concessions, including newsstands, restaurants, coffee stands, gift shops, and delicatessens.
"I think something good's going to come out today. Hopefully, I walk away with a job. That's my plan," said Zaynab Abdul-Wahie. She arrived in line before 6 a.m. Monday.
"It's tough. It's not easy. Every opportunity that presents itself you always have to take it," added Brian Maupin, another job seeker.
The job fair is at the Georgia International Convention Center located at 2000 Convention Center Concourse, College Park. It's from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 2, 3, and 4.
Attendees are encouraged to register with the Atlanta Workforce Development agency at www.atlantaworkforce.org and bring their resumes.
