CLAYTON COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

An armed robbery suspect is in jail Friday after leading a Fulton County deputy on an early morning chase that resulted in a crash in Clayton County.

Fulton police Officer Scott McBride said a Sheriff's deputy spotted a car matching the description of a vehicle used in an armed robbery on Old National Highway Tuesday.

The deputy followed the car when the driver would not pull over. Police said the vehicle ultimately crashed into a row of mailboxes on the front lawn of a North Castlegate Drive home in Clayton County at around 2:30 a.m.

McBride said the suspect was taken into custody by Fulton deputies on scene.

Police have not said whether the suspect was injured in the crash.
