ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Crime victims and forensic experts held a rally to urge Georgia lawmakers to spend more money on DNA testing on Wednesday.
The rally was held because some are concerned that there is a serious lack of funding and resources for Georgia's crime labs.
During the rally, several crime victims told emotional stories about how DNA testing helped solve their cases.
"To have that name, to have that identification of that person who has done this and who has changed your life in the blink of an eye makes all the difference in the world," said one crime victim.
According to experts, funding for more DNA testing could also help to clear innocent suspects of crimes they didn't commit; 164 people across the country have been cleared in such situations, five of whom were from Georgia.
