GAINESVILLE, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Gainesville police are still combing through the wreckage of a wreck between a tractor trailer and another vehicle that claimed two lives early Tuesday.
Cpl. Kevin Holbrook said police responded to a report of a truck fire on Purina Drive just before 1 a.m. and found that it had collided with another vehicle. Both vehicles were on fire.
Two bodies have been removed from the vehicle, but Holbrook said they are still examining the wreckage. The truck driver escaped without injury.
Hazmat teams were called to contain a gasoline spill because the contents of the truck were initially unknown, Holbrook said.
The wreck was close to the Purina Mills facility and the tractor trailer was determined to be carrying dog food products at the time.
No charges have been filed in the incident, which is still under investigation.
