GBI: Missing Monroe man's body found in well

MONROE, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has identified a body found in the bottom of an Oglethorpe County well as a Monroe man who disappeared in January.

At about noon Monday, investigators were called out to the Sandy Cross community of Oglethorpe County on a call that a possible body had been found in a well at an abandoned house.

The GBI said its investigation revealed the preliminary identification of the body to be 25-year-old Charles Steven Parker.

Parker was reported missing Jan. 16.

The body has been transported to the Atlanta Crime Lab, where an autopsy will be performed.

The investigation into his death continues.
