ELLENWOOD, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

A fire destroyed a home in the Bouldercrest Acres subdivision in Ellenwood Monday morning.

The blaze broke out around 7:00 a.m. on Bouldercrest Road.

Officials confirm that the fire was caused by candles that were left burning in the bedroom.

The homeowner and his girlfriend had just left the home minutes earlier.

Two neighboring homes had minor damage to the siding from the heat.

That included the Snow family's home. They said another neighbor knocked on their door, alerting them to the fire next door.

"I was just praying and hoping my neighbor wasn't inside. I knew we was pretty much safe, but like I said, just the panic set in, and I didn't know what to do or what to think or anything else," said Jerold Snow.

No injuries were reported.
