COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Two people are killed in a single car wreck in Cobb County early Saturday morning.

The driver of the vehicle Derrick Pritchett, 17, tried to elude Cobb County police officers after they attempted to pull him over for traffic violations according to police.

Investigators say Pritchett was heading westbound on Windy Hill Road near Leland Drive.

Officers attempted to pull the car over as it entered the ramp onto I-75 southbound. Pritchett did not stop for the officers, and increased his speed as he merged onto the interstate.

Officers lost sight of the car on the exit ramp to Cumberland Boulevard.

They later found the Cadillac on its roof and on fire.

It appears to have struck two concrete curbs and a retaining wall before overturning on the onramp to I-75 southbound from Cumberland Boulevard around 2:26 a.m. according to investigators.

At the wreck scene, police identified two passengers as juveniles. One passenger died at the scene while the second was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. He had surgery Saturday morning and is reported to be in stable condition according to investigators.

Pritchett was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where he later died.

The collision remains under investigation. Anyone with information on wreck is asked to contact the Cobb County Police Department's Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Unit at 770.499.3987.
