ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Downtown Atlanta will play host to some 250,000 visitors this weekend for events that will pack the heart of the city.
Philips Arena is hosting thousands of spectators for the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus. Shows have already begun and will continue all weekend long.
Right next door at the Georgia Dome, thousands more spectators will attend the Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series. The shows will be nationally televised.
And in the same city block – at the Georgia World Congress Center – there are two big events.
Some 900 teams of cheerleaders and dancers from across the country will compete all weekend in the Cheersport National Championship.
And the Bronner Brothers International Hair Show starts Saturday and runs through Tuesday.
Atlanta police urge attendees to take MARTA. But visitors who choose to take their cars are urged to leave valuables at home and call 911 if they see anything suspicious.
