LAWRENCEVILLE, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Several couples are tying the knot on the most romantic day of the year at one of Gwinnett County's most historic places, and they're doing it for free.
Couples are showing up one after the other at the Historic Gwinnett County Courthouse to exchange wedding vows.
"We originally planned to have a big wedding, but it was just getting too stressful," said Reba Smith, who said "I do," to her long-time boyfriend. Their three children came with them, the two older children capturing video of the ceremony on their parents' iPhones.
"It's an exciting day for us because we get to be a part of this special day for these folks," said Gwinnett County Chief Magistrate Judge George Hutchinson.
Hutchinson said he performed 83 weddings on Valentine's Day 2011, and he expects to have at least that many this year.
"A lot of people will come in traditional wedding attire or special ethnic costume or just dress up special for the day," Hutchinson said, adding that he doesn't think the rainy weather will keep couples away. "Regardless of what the weather's doing outside, we're expecting a lot of happiness indoors."
