Inmate charged in Norcross burglary found with handcuff key

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Gwinnett County authorities are trying to find out how an inmate got his hands on a handcuff key on Friday - while in jail.

Jail employees received a tip that inmate Reco West somehow got the key. West is in jail on charges of burglary and murder.

The charges stem from a home invasion in Norcross. Read more on this story: Emotional funeral for slain Norcross teen.

When deputies searched West's cell they found he was hiding the key in his mouth.

West has been incarcerated in the Gwinnett County Jail since Feb. 3, and now faces additional criminal charges.

Sheriff's Office personnel are still investigating how West obtained the key.
