Bank holds event to get people mortgages

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Wells Fargo held its NeighborhoodLIFT event at the Georgia World Congress Center on Feb. 10 and Feb. 11.

The company said the event is an 8 million dollar program to encourage home ownership in Atlanta. The money is for people looking to buy a home and for those who need to renovate their homes.

There were income limits who could receive help. Qualifying homeowners were able to receive up to $15,000 in assistance.

Participants met with counselors to get pre-approved for a mortgage. The company said more than 900 people came through the door over the two days.
