FORSYTH COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

GOP presidential nominee Newt Gingrich will make a stop in Forsyth County on Feb. 18.

Gingrich, who represented Georgia in Congress for 20 years, is expected to speak at the GOP Mass Precinct Meeting at South Forsyth High School from 10:00-10:45 a.m.

From 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m., the candidate will speak at the Gwinnett County Precinct Meeting at Collins Hill High School in Suwanee.

He will then make an appearance at Marriott Atlanta Northwest on Interstate North Parkway from 3:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.

Gingrich will spend the evening in Peachtree City at a rally before going to a VIP donor reception.

Some say the Georgia presidential primary may not be a slam dunk for Gingrich.

Romney's swing into Georgia on Wednesday had Gingrich on the defensive. After Romney announced his visit, the Gingrich campaign rushed out a news release with details of his visit to the state.

Georgia is key to Gingrich's Southern strategy, which calls for him to rebound from five straight losses with a strong run in Dixie.

Romney finished third in Georgia's 2008 presidential primary.

This time he has tapped into the deep pockets of metro Atlanta's business community.
