ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Imagine spending your days trolling the swamps of Louisiana, fighting off gators!
Troy Landry does it and people love watching him! He's on the popular reality show "Swamp People" which just kicked off its 3rd season Thursday night.
I got the chance to talk to Landry and Louisiana's Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne about how the show's extreme popularity has benefited their state.
"People are starting to have an understanding of what we sometimes have taken for granted in Louisiana, and that is our swamp land and the wonders of nature that people can experience in Louisiana," explained Dardenne.
As for Landry, he says he's still getting used to being a national celebrity. "We're traveling the country from the East Coast to the West Coast making appearances and promoting the show. It's changed a lot, you can't imagine how much my life has changed."
You can watch our full interview to hear from Landry about the changes coming to the swamp this season.
