Hundreds remember family killed in I-75 crash

MARIETTA, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Hundreds of young people held a candle light vigil outside Sprayberry High School to remember the Carmo family.

Emotions ran high as tearful friends and classmates prayed for the quick recovery of the only family member - Liddy Anna Carmo - who survived a terrible multi-car accident on a Florida interstate last Sunday.

Chinese lanterns lit the night sky, and Liddy Anna Carmo's friends hope she could see their light of love from her hospital bed.

"There are people - even that didn't know her - that care about her so much," said neighbor Larissa Melo. "She's such an amazing person."

Liddy Anna Carmo is recovering at a hospital in Gainesville, Fla. Friends and schoolmates hope the girl will be able to continue her classes at Sprayberry when she's healed.
