ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

On Tuesday Atlanta Dream guard Shalee Lehning announced her retirement from the WNBA.

Lehning, a 5-9 guard, played three seasons in the WNBA and helped the Dream to three consecutive playoff appearances.

Lehning is retiring due to complications from an ACL injury that ended her 2011 season.

"Shalee has been an important part of our franchise for the last three seasons," said Dream Head Coach and General Manager Marynell Meadors. "She brought tremendous work ethic and leadership to our team that will be hard to replace. We wish Shalee the best of luck and I know she has a bright future in the game as a coach."
