BOWDON, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Greg Ock received a warm welcome when he arrived in Georgia on Sunday. Ock, who lives in Bowdon, was held hostage for a week in Nigeria.
Ock works as an engineer in the southern part of the country. He said he remembers very well what happened Jan. 20.
He was with his guard and driver. They stopped at an ATM and Ock said the kidnappers must have been watching the bank. When the group got stuck in traffic the kidnappers made their move.
"He came to the window and said, 'die mo-po,'" said Ock. He then mimicked the sound of a gun. The mo-po or police escort was killed. The driver was shot in the stomach. The men took Ock and shot their way out of the city.
"He leaned out. The front one leaned out the window and shot those guys up and they shot back at us. It all happened so fast. I don't know. I am lucky," said Ock.
The kidnappers held him in a small house in the country. His feet and hands were chained.
"You just didn't know - thinking about my family and friends," said Ock.
A week later, he said his company paid a ransom. He said the kidnappers dropped him off on the side of the road and even gave him some money. He was unharmed and free.
Ock said he found a police station and his company picked him up. He was back with his family in Georgia on Sunday.
