TUCKER, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
A robber picked the wrong clerk to mess with in Tucker.
Michael Mekasha works at Northlake Liquor. Late one night, he knew something was wrong when a man came in and walked directly to the register.
"He had a glove, a black glove. He had a gun in his hand, so he game straight to me. (He said), 'It's a hold-up, give it up' or something like that," said Mekasha.
The last time someone tried to hold up the store was six years ago. The owners then installed bullet-proof glass around the register. Mekasha said he knows many of the customers and usually keeps the glass partially open.
Mekasha went behind the bullet-proof side and reached for his gun on the counter. He said he shot the gun through the open space.
The bullet left a mark on the opposite side. Mekasha said the guy ran out. He said he's shot the gun at the range and while hunting, but he's never had to pull it on a person. He hopes he scared the robber enough that he won't come back. He wasn't able to give officers a description of the man's face because the man was wearing a mask.
