BREMEN, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Friends and family members of a Carroll County woman are calling her a hero after she chased down a pair of men who burglarized her home.
She got all of her stuff back - and what's even more amazing, she did it all while recovering from open-heart surgery, and carrying her tea-cup poodle.
Deanna Dyer just got home from work when she walked in on burglars stealing her belongings.
"It's scary to know someone is going through your bedroom and your personal things," said Dyer.
Deanna and her small dog took off after the burglary suspects on foot, all the while calling 911 and giving police turn-by-turn directions to catch the thieves.
In a matter of minutes, Bremen police arrested Christopher Waid and Chad Chenault. Police also recovered all of Dyers property; police say the suspects tried to ditch property inside a boxcar.
"Caught up with them in enough time to apprehend them and get her belongings back," said Lt. Blane Cochran. "Mrs. Dyer was brave enough to chase them, but like I said, we don't recommend that, but it worked this time."
Deanna recovered her jewelry, laptops, and her son's Xbox - even though she's recovering from open-heart surgery.
"If I could get through open heart surgery, I can do anything," laughed Dyer.
Waid and Chenault are both charged with obstruction, theft by taking, and burglary - they're both sitting in a cell at the Haralson County jail.
